Stefan Mandic-Rajcevic

Dr. Stefan Mandic-Rajcevic has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade (Serbia) and went on to do a Ph.D. in Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene at the University of Milan (Italy). His main interests lie in Public Health, Occupational Medicine, Toxicology, Exposure and Risk Assessment, Modelling, Risk Communication and Data Analysis.

For the last 10 years, he has been working on improving health surveillance and early disease detection using data mining and advanced techniques of data collection and storage through open source tools. He has published more than 30 scientific papers in International peer-reviewed Journals and spoke at more than 50 international conferences.

Stefan’s special interest lies in Disaster Risk Reduction and organizations’ capacity to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. In that framework he has worked with primary healthcare institutions affected by floods analyzing their performance and drawing experience to prevent future risks and hospitals severely struck by COVID-19 to identify weak points in the organization and prepare for future challenges.

Stefan approaches health and safety at work by looking not only at what and how the workers perform their activities, but also by asking the question “why” – adding a cultural dimension to safety, reducing the loose binding between the regulatory aspects and how work is actually done.
